BPL had identified the following as being the main drivers behind the need for the update:

• Professional and Modern User Interface
  The new website should have a design which is professional, modern and engaging to visitors.
• SEO Ranking
  When BPL clients or potential clients are utilising a search engine to find a supplier of Logistics services, such as the physical movement of goods, warehousing and distribution, the site should be available as a 1st instance.
• Engage Clients
  The site should allow clients to be more interactive with BPL, specifically in terms of improving the ability to request quotes and/or to interact with BPL representatives.
• Improved Analytics
  The site should allow BPL to draw advanced reports around user’s activities on the site i.e. what users searched for and which pages were accessed most often.
• Better Feature Visibility
  The design of the site should better promote the existing features available on the site such as track and trace, contact us, careers and request a solution.
• Improved Service Offering Message
  The content of the site should better convey BPL’s service offering differentiators in the logistics arena.
• Brand Awareness Improvement
  Having previously been known as Safcor Freight, many existing and previous BPL customers do not know that the company is now called Bidvest Panalpina Logistics, the new website should help visitors make the connection between the two companies.
• Increased Business from the Website
  Through all of the above activities, BPL would like to increase the amount of new business acquired through the web channel.

Bidvest Panalpina Logistics had already invested in the Microsoft SharePoint content management platform and as such the website was built on this platform in order to maximise the benefit of their existing technology stack.
